Fury 650 Scrambler Unleashed – Royal Enfield’s Desert Beast!

Royal Enfield bikes rule the hearts of people in their stock (i.e. original form made by the company), but when they are modified i.e. changed according to one’s needs and preferences, then a new and tremendous look is seen. In one such new custom project, Royal Enfield Bear 650 has been converted into Fury 650 Scrambler, which is specially designed for racing in sand desert areas. This new avatar is no less than a dream for bike lovers. Let’s know about this special bike in detail.

Who built the Fury 650?

The Fury 650 Scrambler has been customized by Fuel Motorcycles – a custom bike shop based in Barcelona, Spain. Royal Enfield itself has also cooperated in this project and another Spanish motorcycle shop, Bandarra Motorcycles, has also helped in it. That is, this is a completely professional and heartfelt project, in which technical understanding and passion for the bike is clearly visible.

What changes have been made in the Fury 650?

Now let’s talk about those special changes, which make this bike a racing machine for desert areas.

1. Wheels and tires

The first difference that is clearly visible is its wheels.

  • The front wheel in the stock Bear 650 is 19-inch, but in the Fury 650 it has been increased to 21-inch.
  • This improves the off-roading capability of the bike, especially in desert areas where there are rough roads.
  • The rear wheel has been kept 17-inch only.

These wheels have been fitted with Mitas Dakar 6 tires, which are specially made to run on off-road and sandy surfaces. These tires prevent the bike from slipping and give it a better grip.

2. Suspension System

The front of the Fury 650 Scrambler has special Modified Enduro Forks, which have been designed keeping in mind the harsh conditions like desert.

At the same time, Bitubo shock absorbers have been used for the rear suspension which come with gas canisters.

Royal Enfield Bear
  • These are fully adjustable,
  • That is, the rider can set the stiffness or softness of the suspension according to his convenience.

3. Handle and Headlight

The front of the bike has a dual headlight setup, in which the headlights are protected with a strong tubular metal guard.

  • This not only gives the bike a rough-tough look,
  • But also protects the headlights from sand and stones.

4. Seat and Fuel Tank

The fuel tank has been kept stock, but grip pads have been added to it so that the rider can get better grip while sitting.

The seat has been completely customized –

  • It has a waterproof Alcantara top layer and a foam base for comfort.
  • Also, the red thread stitching on the seat gives a premium look.

A dash of technology and navigation

While the Bear 650 is equipped with the Tripper Navigation System, the Fury 650 Scrambler has a retro-style instrument console to bring in the old-world feel.

But along with the retro look, it is also full of modern technology –

  • It has a GPS Roadbook
  • Tachometer
  • Odometer
  • Speedometer
  • Rally controls

Apart from this, a unit of Motogadget has also been given in it, which keeps providing important information related to the bike on the screen.

Changes in exhaust and fender

The exhaust system of the bike has also been modified for off-road.

  • Although its design is very similar to the stock unit,
  • Its performance has been upgraded for off-roading.

The rear fender has been specially handmade from fiberglass

  • It is not only light but also strong.

Features like:

  • A raised front fender
  • Rally pegs
  • Skid plate
  • Foam grips
  • Handguards

Make it a true desert scrambler.

Tribute to Eddie Mulder and the Fury 500

The Fury 650 Scrambler project is inspired by Eddie Mulder, an American motorcycle racer who won the Big Bear Run in 1960 at the age of just 16.

  • The race was extremely tough – a total of 765 riders took part, but only 197 were able to finish it.
  • And Eddie Mulder was the first among them.

Eddie was riding a Royal Enfield Fury 500 in that race.

  • The Fury 650 has been designed to pay tribute to this historic win and the bike.
  • Mulder’s bike had the number 249, which has also been used in this custom bike.

Connection with the ‘Two Four Nine’ variant

Royal Enfield has recently launched a special variant called ‘Two Four Nine’, which is priced at ₹3.59 lakh.

  • It also gets 249 number plate and checkered flag style graphics.
  • A similar graphics style is seen in the Fury 650 Scrambler, although its pattern is slightly different.

But these clearly reflect Mulder’s racing history and Royal Enfield’s heritage.

Why is Fury 650 special?

The Fury 650 Scrambler is not just a custom bike, but it repeats an inspirational story related to Royal Enfield’s history.

  • This bike shows how a classic bike can be given a new identity by combining it with modern technology and design.
  • This bike is for those who are fond of off-road adventure and motorcycle racing.
  • Also, it is a great example of how a bike can be given a new life through customization.

Conclusion – A blend of tradition and modernity

The Fury 650 Scrambler is a blend of Royal Enfield’s strong tradition, passion and modern craftsmanship.

Not only does the bike look amazing, but its performance is no less than that of a racing beast.

If you are someone who likes to ride a bike not just for riding but for living, then custom projects like the Fury 650 Scrambler can be a great inspiration for you.

This unique custom project from Royal Enfield also makes it clear that when the heart and mind of biking are combined, the result is a great machine like the Fury 650 – which remembers history and prepares for the future
